"WHAT DOES IT TRULY MEAN TO LOVE GOD"

This is an excellent tool for self-examination. The great commandment qualified the question by adding with all one’s heart, soul, mind and strength, so the question could be restated, “What does it mean to passionately love God as the most important thing in our life... to be People of One Thing?”  This “love” is not some weak human excuse for love, but the passionate self sacrificing agapao love that the Godhead demonstrated at Calvary. And, “we love Him because He first loved us”: It is as we behold the love of God for us, that we become loving... we become what we behold. Love, God’s agapao love, is the fuel that drives our conformation into the nature of His Beloved Son. We desperately need this transformation, the metamorphosis of sin stained spiritual cripples into beacons of radiant light reflecting the holy nature of Christ to a world drowning in sin’s darkness. For it is here in the struggle for the blinded... the lost... those deceived by the powers of darkness, that we demonstrate the second great commandment, to love others as ourselves. And when we love others “as ourself”, when we love others in place of and with the same intensity and devotion that we once applied to our Self... then we are truly loving God...  For he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, Whom he has not seen.”
